Vendakkai Fry (Okra Fry)

Directions

  1. Heat oil in a pan.
  2. Add mustard seeds and let them splutter.
  3. Add fenugreek and onions.
  4. Fry till the onion turns transparent.
  5. Then add tomatoes and saute till it becomes mushy.
  6. Then add the okra pieces and salt.
  7. Mix the ingredients well and let it cook.
  8. Add chilli powder(or mom’s sambhar powder), turmeric powder and keep stirring.
  9. Add some water and then tamarind paste.
  10. Bring the entire mix to boil.
  11. Reduce the heat and keep cooking till the okra is almost cooked.
  12. If you have grated coconut then add that too and turn the heat off.
