Paal Paayasam with Rice

Ingredients

  • Milk – 5 cups
  • Rice – 1/2 cup
  • Sugar – 1/2 (add more for taste)
  • Cashew – handful
  • Saffron – couple of strands
  • Cardamom Powder – a pinch

Instructions

  • Wash the rice and soak it for 10 minutes.
  • Roast the cashews in ghee or oil.
  • Turn off the saute mode.
  • Add all the remaining ingredients to the instant pot.
  • Close the lid and close the vent to build the pressure.
  • Set the instant pot to porridge mode for 20 minutes.
  • After the 20 minutes let the pressure release naturally.
  • Add the roasted cashews and raisins to the paayasam.
  • Check for taste and consistency.
  • If needed to be thick, set it to saute and keep stirring till it gets thick.
